The Light House adopted modern Balinese style as its architectural language, with an open layout proposed for the main living spaces, their boundaries defined by massive walls sliding into the interior. At its center is a double volume indoor courtyard, drawing visual focus upwards to a skylight and the generous amount of natural light flowing in. The skylight and full-height doors and windows throughout the house also facilitate cross ventilation, enhanced by evaporative cooling provided by the swimming pool and water feature located at outdoor yard. A second indoor courtyard is also present on first floor, encouraging the residents to interact with nature.
Foundation, structures and surfaces are specifically left exposed, expressing the clarity of structure and essence of materials. Ventilation blocks and bricks filter natural light into shadow, creates an interplay of light and shadow around the house. Key aspects of modern Balinese style are incorporated into the design, creating a spiritual escape from the bustling city.
